How will you pay for nursing school?
Scholarships for nursing are free money for tuition!
Scholarships for nursing are awarded based on a variety of factors. These scholarships are available for a variety of nursing programs from the RN program to nursing graduate studies. Each individual scholarship has specific criteria required to qualify for the free money for school.
Some are based on educational status such as GPA or SAT scores.
Others require possession of a special talent such as singing, playing a musical instrument or ability to play a particular sport.
Others require proof of financial need.
Scholarship money for school does not need to be repaid, unlike financial aid which does require repayment of the money that is borrowed.
So what are your options for scholarships for nursing school?
Cherokee uniforms offered 10 $2,000 scholarships in May 2011 to winners of their essay contest. The winners have been announced on their website. Watch for next years offer.
The March of Dimes offers $5,000 scholarships yearly to nurses enrolled in graduate programs for maternal child nursing. Applications for 2011 were due January 15, 2011. Watch for next years deadline.
US medical supplies is offering $1000 to scholarship winners in their Medical Professionals of the Future Scholarship. This scholarship opportunity is open to those attending college for a degree in the healthcare field. The 2011 winner has been announced and the application period for 2012 is exptected to begin April 16, 2012.
The Tylenol scholarship fund offered a total of $250,000 in 2011 to individuals pursuing a career in the healthcare field including nursing. Watch for the 2012 application period.
