Free Nursing CEU resources

These ceu hours are needed to maintain your nursing license, and the number needed will depend on the state you are licensed in. If you are unsure on the requirements for your state you may find the website for your state board here. As the requirements do vary by state, please check that the hours offered are from a source approved by your state board.

In most cases it is not difficult to find the required hours that are needed. We offer links to some of the free continuing education hours we have found.

Certain college classes can also count toward your required hours. According to the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners one academic credit hour is equal to 15 contact hours. Nursing classes toward a higher degree qualify but prerequisites such as biology and math do not. Prior to counting your nursing classes toward your contact hours please confirm with your state board as this will vary by state. This information can be found on the boards website.

The Texas Board of Nurses recently changed the requirements for your nursing ceu's. The board now requires that your nursing ceu's are more focused towards your area of practice. Nurses-neighborhood will review other boards for similar trends. Please check with your state board of nursing for any changes in requirements.
