In most cases it is not difficult to find the required hours that are needed. We are providing this list of free nursing CEU courses to assist you in obtaining the credits you need or to further your professional knowledge base.
Certain college classes can also count toward your required hours.
According to the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners one academic credit hour
is equal to 15 contact hours. Nursing classes toward a higher degree
qualify but prerequisites such as biology and math do not. Prior to
counting your nursing classes toward your contact hours please confirm
with your state board as this will vary by state. This information can
be found on the boards website.
The Texas Board of Nurses changed the requirements for your nursing ceu's several years ago. The board now requires that your nursing ceu's are more focused towards your area of practice. Nurses-neighborhood will review other boards for similar trends. Please check with your state board of nursing for any changes in requirements.
